Time for Change #3

The Time for Change/Seniors Have Voices group is presenting an ongoing series of speakers and workshops focused on how seniors can advocate for change on those issues that affect our daily lives. It could be health care, safe streets, aging in place or a myriad of other related issues but seniors have both the right and the obligation to make themselves heard.

The January 2024 event will feature BC’s and Canada’s first seniors advocate, Isobel Mackenzie, who for the last nine years has kept issues related to seniors front and centre with both the public and the provincial government. Isobel remains a fierce advocate for seniors and their families and her insight and commitment has led to recommendations that have created real change.

Isobel will be using her extensive professional experience in home care, licensed care, community services and volunteer services, to outline her vision as to what makes a successful advocate.

Her talk will be followed by a question & answer session so join us for what will be an interesting and inspiring Century House afternoon. All are welcome!

  1. Having personally attended the occasion of her presentation, I’m now very aware of the depth of her understanding of the pitfall(s) of various aspects of government programs and and initiatives with respect to our aging population. This, of course, includes the national (Canadian) government, BC provincial and other municipal services in the greater Vancouver metropolitan area.
