Did you know that New Westminster was the first city in Canada to have a sister city in Japan? In 1963, New Westminster and the city of Moriguchi, northeast of Osaka, signed a sister city agreement.

Sunday May 31  1:00 – 3:30

Come and learn about some of the Japanese traditions and the history of Japanese Canadians in BC. As well as watching the performance of Japanese dance and a tea ceremony, you will have the opportunity to learn some origami (paper folding), learn a simple dance, try on a summer kimono and sample some Japanese snacks and green tea.

If you have been to Japan, are planning to go, or just enjoy learning about another culture, this event is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
